After connecting the monitor to a computer with a USB-C to USB-A or USB-C to USB-C cable, the notification “Display connection might be limited” appears.

The monitor’s USB-C connector enables DP projection. If the monitor detects that the computer’s port in use does not allow DP projection, it will display the warning “Display connection might be limited” suggesting that the computer will be unable to project its screen to the monitor through the USB-C port. This is a common occurrence.

Solution to Display Connection Might Be Limited

It’s conceivable that the dongle contains new functions that aren’t supported by the cable, device, or PC. Check to see whether you’ve attached the dongle to the right port, or if you’ve linked it to an external dock or hub. On the other hand, it’s conceivable that other USB-C devices are interfering with the dongle’s operation.

You should be aware that a USB-C connection supports Alternate Modes that can be used to connect to non-USB devices. HDMI, DisplayPort, and MHL are the three modes available. Check if your PC, cable, and external display support the aforementioned other modes to resolve the ‘Display connection could be restricted’ problem warning. You may also see if the dongle or device is linked to your computer directly. If the issue still exists, try using an alternative cable.

Conclusion

The methods outlined above will undoubtedly assist you in dealing with the problem of a restricted display connection. For a vast percentage of people, these strategies appear to be successful.
